On the long-run fluctuations of inheritance in two-sector OLG models

چکیده
This paper provides a long-run cycle perspective to explain the behavior of annual flow inheritance. Based on low- and medium frequency properties long time bequests series in Sweden, France, UK, Germany, we explore extent which two-sector Barro-type OLG model is consistent with such empirical regularities. As as agents are sufficiently impatient preferences non-separable, show that endogenous fluctuations likely occur through two mechanisms, can generate independently or together either period-2 cycles Hopf bifurcations. The first mechanism relies elasticity intertemporal substitution equivalently sign cross-derivative utility function whereas second rests sectoral technologies capital intensity difference across sectors. Furthermore, building quasi-palindromic nature degree-4 characteristic equation, derive some meaningful sufficient conditions associated occurrence complex roots bifurcation model.

Efficient Endogenous Fluctuations in Two-Sector OLG Model
We consider a two-sector two-good two-periods overlapping generations model with inelastic labor, consumption in both period of life and homothetic CES preferences. There are two consumption goods, one pure (non-durable) consumption and one consumable (durable) capital good which can be either consumed or invested. Assuming gross substitutability and a capital intensive pure consumption good, w...
متن کاملOn efficiency and local uniqueness in two-sector OLG economies
We consider a two-sector overlapping generations model with homothetic preferences. Under standard conditions on technologies, upon large enough values for the share of first period consumption over the wage income, we prove that dynamic efficiency and local uniqueness of the competitive equilibrium hold. On the contrary, for lower values of the share of first period consumption over the wage i...
متن کاملWealth and Inheritance in the Long Run
This chapter offers an overview of the empirical and theoretical research on the long-run evolution of wealth and inheritance. Wealth–income ratios, inherited wealth, and wealth inequalities were high in the eighteenth to nineteenth centuries up until World War I, then sharply dropped during the twentieth century following World War shocks, and have been rising again in the late twentieth and e...
متن کاملInvestigating the Short-run and Long-run Causal Relationship between the Stock Price Index in Insurance Industry, Banking Sector and Investment Sector
The purpose of this Research is to investigate the causal relationship between the stock price index in the insurance industry, banking sector, and the investment sector during 2009 – 2017 period. So, a long-term relationship between variables was investigated by Johansson-Juselius test. Then, by Vector error correction model (VECM), the causal relation between the variables of the model was...
